It's a full slate and we're jacked to get you all the info, on the Laugh Factory Podcast Network!
We're laughing about ghosts, doppelgangers and more on another fun episode! We recap a wild 2nd Gotham, loving where David Mazouz and Erin Richards are taking Bruce and Barbara, respectively, but we're really delighted with Jada Pinkett Smith. We preview the crossovers for the Arrowverse this year, with some insight as to who is coming back, excitment over a lot of speedsters on Flash and just having Supergirl closer on the CW, even if she is a couple of worlds away. Legends has an amazing "big bad" team this season and we lock up DC with a few tidbits on Ben Affleck's Batman and the upcoming Justice League film.
Flipping over to Marvel, we breakdown episode 2 of Agents Of Shield with a lot of love for the Gabriel Luna and Chloe Bennet pairing and our first encounter with the very interesting new Director of SHIELD, played by Jason O'Mara. Black Panther's cast gets even stronger in a number of ways, Spider-Man: Homecoming wraps and Bobby pitches a crossover idea that just might work, and Luke Cage's Misty Knight, played by Simone Missick, has some info on where here character may show up yet. We close it out with a short review on Luke Cage's first 4 episodes (check out our latest Bidchat show for the full review,) and talk Iron Fist's release date and it's impact on Marvel in 2017. This episode is robust and we keep you laughing the whole way through, it's the Trusty Sidekicks, on the Laugh Factory Podcast Network!
The chains are loose and so are we on a fired up episode 38! We cover a new section on the Trusty Sidekick website, the CEO of Time Warner's opinion of his own company's DC movies, review the first episode of Gotham's 3rd season, beg for Greg Berlanti to get more control, and give a little news on both Dichen Lachman joining one of his Arrowverse shows, and Kevin Smith's latest on this season's Flash. Over at Marvel, we sing the praises of Gabriel Luna as well as the premiere of Agent's Of Shield and cover the hottest news for Netflix's Jessica Jones, Punisher and of course the upcoming premiere of Luke Cage. We close it out with where Bryan Cranston would like to fit in to the Marvel universe, Black Panther's magical suit and the potential plot of Infinity War. Jay has survived his Movie Fights appearance just in time for the start of the fall season and we bring it to you hot, on the Laugh Factory Podcast Network!
Good news, glitches and getting ready for the fall season - Jay and Bobby are back with another wild episode! DC is getting a new start, again, with Geoff Johns finally taking over. Baffleck is taking on Sofia Vergara's husband in the Caped Crusader's rebooted solo film, and Margot Robbie is sticking around DC for a while. We go deep into discussing the Berlanti effect, including news on Booster Gold, Black Lightning, and...Iron Man? Supergirl isn't running from it's Superman problem, deftly pointed out by io9's Alex Cranz, and we've got a few key details on the upcoming Flash and Arrow seasons, including some harsh criticism of Olicity.
James Gunn leads our Marvel news, letting us know how he feels about our trailer demands, Finn Jones is kicking maximum hobo status for Iron Fist and Jon Favreau is going to be Happy again! Dan Harmon is already slipping secrets out on Dr. Strange (thank you, sir,) we get into our feels on Ghost Rider (Agents Of Shield version,) and the Punisher casts it's big bad. We close out covering the "will they-won't they" between the MCU's TV and movie-verses (just bang already,) and finally, Fox is turning Stan Lee into a 1970's James Bond? We cover it all! It's the Trusty Sidekicks, on the Laugh Factory Podcast Network!
The separation between Marvel and DC continues, Bobby finds some cool Marvel info and Jay has a theory about the Gambit curse on this week's episode! We open with some info on our upcoming live broadcasts that you'll find on Bidchat, then dive right into fresh news on Dr. Strange. We have info about how test screenings are going, along with the addition of Dan Harmon and how business impacts casting over all else. Captain Marvel narrows it's director search and we discuss what each brings to the table, and we are excited about our comedy brother and Chicago's very own, Hannibal Buress joining the Spider-Man cast. The Russo's have info on the future of Chris Evans and we cover how Doug Liman's new gig as director of Justice League Dark affects an already wobbly Gambit movie. We close out Marvel news with info on the exciting New Mutants movie.
On the DC side of things, the Arrowverse is teaming with news. We talk about the excitement over The Flash adding more and more speedsters, plus Wil Traval jumps from Marvel to a role on Arrow. Supergirl is getting Miss Martian but we don't know who it is yet. We're wondering just who may get the role in the human form! Finally, The Flash movie is getting a familiar set of villains, and we are not that excited about it. What we are excited about is you enjoying another great show, on the Laugh Factory Podcast Network!
Major announcements, juicy rumors and a lot of laughs fill up the latest episode with Bobby Hill and Jay Washington! The biggest announcement is that we've signed a deal to bring you a weekly live version of our show on a new streaming network that's in conjunction with MTV, called Bidchat. We give you the lowdown on that and of course how to make sure you can tune in. Next, we get into some news going the opposite direction as we talk Suicide Squad and how the impact of DC's troubles have to be the reason behind the control that Dwayne Johnson has been given on Shazam, along with how rumors of trouble have even caused Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins to speak out. The Flash movie pushes forward with confirmation of additional Justice League member appearances and Henry Cavill teases us. Or does he? We also express some concern for Aquaman, after some recent comments by James Wan.
Powerless is in limbo as a their showrunner throws production into turmoil, but fortunately for DC, Arrow is bringing another seasoned vet on board, Dolph Lundgren, and we have news on Colton Haynes involvement in the show, while Bobby freaks out over whether Jay is going to inspire a million think-pieces with his suggestion on how to bring him back. Speaking of seasoned vets, Lance Henriksen joins Legends and we are excited about who he plays, Kevin Smith gets a proper Supergirl episode, and Flash (the Grant Gustin version) is going to be spending more time with Gorilla Grodd this season.
On the Marvel end of the spectrum, the highly anticipated, long-awaited series, The Runaways, is going to be the first Marvel live-action show on Hulu, and it at least sounds like they want to do it right. Agents of Shield adds Parminder Nagra and Mallory Jansen and we get into how they and Gabriel Luna's Ghostrider will impact the show. Punisher on Netflix is starting to seek it's cast, Natalie Portman discusses her Thor involvement, we talk about the changes being made to Captain Marvel and is Robert Downey Jr taking over Samuel Jackson's role with the Avengers? We close with news of Bokeem Woodbine possibly being yet another villain in the new Spider-Man movie, and Kyle Chandler & Mackenzie Davis' possible involvement in the next Deadpool. Continuing to bring you the best in live-action superhero news and info, it's The Trusty Sidekicks, on the Laugh Factory Podcast Network!
Ups and downs as expectations are missed and met, on another hilarious episode of the Trusty Sidekick podcast, recorded at Meltdown Comics in Los Angeles! Suicide Squad kicks off the show and for once in a long time, Jay and Bobby are in complete agreement. Sadly for David Ayer, Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jared Leto and company, that is not a good thing. Tyler Hoechlin is on set as Superman and he doesn't look nearly as bad as the poor attempt at the first Melissa Benoist action figure. Thank goodness we like this show! Echo Kellum is ready to be terrific on Arrow and Grant Gustin teases some Back To The Future elements to this year's Flash and we speculate just how big the universe of speedsters will become. Legends of Tomorrow looks only better with the addition of Sarah Gray and Gotham is getting some Suicide Squad members, pre-Squad affiliation, plus we break down some of the wild potential of Morena Baccarin's tease for the new season. Luke Cage crashes through the Marvel side of things like the Kool-Aid Man, and Bobby has a stern belief and message about the inaugural season after watching the full trailer (10 times in a row.) We throw in some fresh news about the future of Daredevil and Jessica Jones along with Agent Carter's near Netflix pick-up. We break down why Marvel and DC differ when it comes to how shows get decided on or not on the heels of explaining why Marvel passed on Marvel's Most Wanted and Hellfire. Ghost Rider takes Daisy for a spin on Agents Of Shield, we have a plot summary for Black Panther and Marvel's newest star, Brie Larson is getting her prep on for Captain Marvel. That's not even close to everything we get to, so buckle up, on the Laugh Factory Podcast Network, it's the Trusty Sidekicks!
In part 2 of episode 33, we are back at Meltdown Comics in Los Angeles to give you all the great info and laugh about what came out of the DC side of this years San Diego Comic-Con! Arrow is up first and along with a new trailer, we talk about the additions of Rick Gonzalez, and better roles for Madison McLaughlin and Echo Kellum. Season 3 of the Flash looks to be the best of the bunch and we cover the trailer, Keiynan Lonsdale's new look, and some controversy surrounding Grant Gustin, unrelated to Flashpoint. Legends Of Tomorrow looks to only be better with the addition of not only the Legion Of Doom, but the Justice Society, plus we talk about how Katie Cassidy will be everywhere. The crazy train on Gotham only gets weirder with some new quotes from Ben Mckenzie, and we're still concerned about Powerless. Trailers for Wonder Woman, Justice League and Suicide Squad round out the visual treats for DC at Comic-Con and we agree on at least 2 of them (we're looking at you, Zach Snyder.) Lastly, some hot news on Kiersey Clemons' role in the Flash movie and of course, some disagreement over his costume. Get ready, it's everything DC, from your Trusty Sidekicks, on the Laugh Factory Podcast Network!
It's the first of a 2-part, episode 33 run down of everything that was revealed at this year's San Diego Comic-Con and a whole lot more as the Trusty Sidekicks bring this one to you straight from Meltdown Comics! Marvel kicks off the big news as Oscar winner Brie Larson joins the fold, we know the roles being played by Michael B Jordan, Lupita Nyong'o and Danai Gurira in Black Panther and the latest Dr. Strange trailer is upon us! Kurt Russell's full role in Guardians Of The Galaxy has been revealed and we give you the lowdown on the footage shown from that and Spider-Man: Homecoming, including info on who Tony Revolori, Laura Harrier and Jacob Batalon are playing. We go deep into discussing Thor: Ragnarok and talk about the future of the Hulk in the MU. Gambit is still coming and still has Channing Tatum and Doug Liman attached and we let you know what we think of a solo Black Widow movie. On the TV side of things, Gabriel Luna is coming to Agents Of Shield and we love the role he's playing, but will it transfer to Netflix? And speaking of Netflix, we break down trailers from Luke Cage, Iron Fist and the Defenders. We end the episode by covering the new shows that are coming, including Legion on FX, and an as yet untitled show coming to Fox, helmed by Matt Nix. Of course, multiple times in here, we almost have to stop the show from laughing too hard. See for yourself, it's the Trusty Sidekicks, on the Laugh Factory Podcast Network!
Major deals, major injuries and major laughs on episode 32 of The Trusty Sidekick Podcast! CW is in high gear, locking down a major deal with Netflix, and there's huge news regarding John Barrowman's Merlin character in the Arrowverse. James Bamford is directing more Arrow, Stephen Amell's nemesis from the WWE is coming on board, Echo Kellum's role is being expanded, and we have a lot to say about all of it. The Flash is going to get more Kevin Smith and we talk about other shows across on the CW he wants in on. We also cover other DC film and TV, as we laugh about who the Ben Affleck Batman reminds us of from the Marvel Universe, discuss the 3 women up for the lead in the Flash movie and hope Vanessa Hudgens is a Krysten Ritter like surprise in Powerless. Over at Marvel, Spider-Man keeps adding cool actors, is a year away from release and other than Tom Holland and Michael Keaton, every new actor is a mystery, Thor: Ragnarok is possibly going to save the trilogy, we get into the possibility of Agents Of Shield introducing Ghost Rider and we learn more about how Wong, played by Benedict Wong in Dr. Strange, is not going to be much like the comics (thank the universe - and concerns of whitewashing.) Popped hamstrings, our first sponsor, and the last episode before we get to record together again, it's the Trusty Sidekicks, on the Laugh Factory Podcast Network!
With a stretched off week, there's a ton of great news out in both the Marvel and DC world, and we cover it all in Episode 31! DC info is up first as we've gotten the premiere dates for the CW season premieres and although Flash comes back first, Supergirl news takes center stage with their casting of both Tyler Hoechlin as Superman and a role for former Wonder Woman, Lynda Carter as well. Legends Of Tomorrow keeps announcing Justice Society heroes that are going to appear in season 2, and we have info on Tobias Harris role as the big bad in Arrow's fifth season, as well as some new sidekicks that are joining Ollie. We have Gotham's premiere date as well and we cover the arrival of Jamie Chung as well as the very odd possible reasons and explanations behind time jumping a single character with the recasting of Poison Ivy with a much older actor. There's some great tidbits in the DC movie universe with Suicide Squad and Wonder Woman coming, but the heat is on Zach Snyder's Justice League movie and we discuss how much attention he's paying to critics. News of Fox moving quickly on Deadpool 2 news shifts us over to Marvel as we discuss when they start shooting, along with where Ant-Man & The Wasp is going, creatively and why Jon Bernthal is so excited about how little you've actually seen of the Punisher so far. Spider-Man: Homecoming is casting some huge names and creating huge rumors, with the addition of Bokeem Woodbine and Michael Mando. With the expected success of the web-slinger, we get into the Sony-Marvel partnership, the additional Spidey-related movies that are edging closer to being greenlit and how Fox would benefit from a similar alliance to give access to the X-Men, Deadpool and more. Finally, we get into the topic of whitewashing in the Marvel universe and how that stands up in regards to the incredible job they do in so many areas to create diverse characters. The anticipation of what's coming is killing us! Join the excitement with your Trusty Sidekicks, on the Laugh Factory Podcast Network!
We celebrate episode number 30 with one of the funniest we've had yet! Still no new episodes or movies from our favorites, but we still get into DC news, starting with changes to Justice League that indicate Zack Snyder's future with the DCEU. Wonder Woman has some fresh pics and we talk about the potential power of what we've seen. Gotham is aging and the proof is in the new characters coming to the show along with an older Poison Ivy and is it possible Tom Welling is joining one of the CW powerhouses? Wolverine news dominates the Marvel world and we have concerns over storyline and how many times they're going to flip-flop Patrick Stewart and James McAvoy. Kevin Smith has interest in a Netflix project that's coming up - is it the same project Norman Reedus has an interest in? We discuss that, along with Brian Michael Bendis (Jessica Jones, Powers) getting another greenlight at HBO and Scott Derrickson and James Gunn give us hints about who might be coming to ComiCon. We close it out with in on Sharon Stone coming to Marvel along with Donald Glover. But in what way? So funny that only one of us can pull it together to close out the show, it's the Trusty Sidekicks, on the Laugh Factory Podcast Network!
There's plenty to cover in both live-action worlds without new shows or movies from Marvel or DC on another hilarious episode - Bobby and Jay are back together, directly from the Laugh Factory Chicago! We open with a revisit to the Apocalypse/Mystique billboard controversy and wonder what Jennifer Lawrence thinks of it. Staying on the Marvel side of things, Simon Kinberg has some thoughts about the Fantastic Four failure, Sebastian Stan gives some info on where you'll see him next, Brie Larson (Room,) Niki Caro (Whale Rider) and Jennifer Kent (The Babadook) may all be in on Captain Marvel and we wonder if Namor may finally get a live-action opportunity. Also, is Thor in Guardians Of The Galaxy? What say you, James Gunn? On DC's side of the street, there's some news on Justice League Dark that isn't what we expected, and tons of Aquaman info from director James Wan. New Flash (the movie) director Rick Famuyiwa is already creating a little controversy (besides the pronounciation of his name,) we discuss our feelings on Supergirl casting an adult Superman for a couple of episodes and we dig into the new big bad storyline coming to Arrow. It's summer break, which means a perfect time to catch up with your Trusty Sidekicks, on the Laugh Factory Podcast Network!
Apocalypse is here, it's Bobby's birthday, and this season's DC shows reach their finales, all on episode 28! We kick it off with a review of Marvel's Fox licensed (that's a mouthful) X-Men: Apocalypse and as usual, we come to different conclusions about the movie. From there, we jump into Gotham's season finale and profess how well this show has come together, with great performances from Camren Bicondova to David Mazouz to the return of Jada Pinkett Smith, it is on fire! We agree that Flash is the best of the current superhero TV bunch right now. Grant Gustin has really proven himself and we really like the growing relationship between Barry and Wally (Keiynan Lonsdale,) as well as the potential for Flashpoint - plus, John Wesley Shipp has a future in the universe! We struggle with the season finale of Arrow but have faith in the team of Guggenheim, Berlanti and Mericle for a better season 5. We'll miss Neal McDonough but Stephen Amell is so good as Ollie that we're in for another year. We close it out with a good amount of news from both Marvel and DC. Going live from the Laugh Factory in Chicago next week, it's the Trusty Sidekicks!
The energy is high and the season finales have begun on a fiery episode 27! We start with pre-release jitters about X-Men: Apocalypse and some news on the futures of Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender with the series. Major casting rumors and news on the Black Panther and Spiderman: Homecoming front along with 3 new series announcements for Netflix from Marvel. Agents Of Shield is our first season finale and we applaud the crushing performances from Brett Dalton and Chloe Bennet, while feeling a little remiss over the loss of Luke Mitchell from the series. On the DC side, Jay is full-on #TeamGotham and it is on point right now, buoyed by the incredible performances from BD Wong, Camren Bicondova and David Mazouz. Plus, the return of Jada Pinkett Smith and the emergence of the Court Of Owls! Bobby agrees with Jay that Grant Gustin is the only Flash that matters as he is truly owning the role. He's back and so is Katie Cassidy as the Black Siren this time, which makes both of us happy, but we mostly lament over why John Wesley Shipp isn't a dad on more shows. Arrow has gone a little off the rails but we love the crazy, and we're always happy to see Echo Kellum (Curtis) getting major screen time. We laugh at the oddity of seeing Ollie in full Arrow garb in (simulated) daylight and have some questions about Mama Smoak (Charlotte Ross) and her deal with the Calculator (Tom Amandes.) Legends Of Tomorrow is at it's very best for their season finale and it's settled that Caity Lotz is the star, though the talents of Franz Drameh, Victor Garber, Ciara Renee, and Casper Crump made it a great first season. We have some issues with the defeat of Vandal Savage, but we look forward to season 2 after that finale! Powered up from start to finish, it's the Trusty Sidekicks on the Laugh Factory Podcast Network!
